The Foster Care Adventure Therapy Network is an international collaboration of practitioners who utilize adventure-based interventions with current or former foster youth. This group was created by Dr. Christine Lynn Norton, Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare Center Research Scientist, as part of her upcoming research sabbatical project in the fall of 2016. This faculty leave project centers on research and grant-writing in the areas of developing and evaluating adventure-based interventions for youth currently and formerly in foster care. Dr. Norton will build on current research to further evaluate 1) best practices in supporting former foster care students in higher education; 2) the impact of adventure-based group work on social connectedness among former foster care youth; and 3) adventure-based interventions for youth currently in the foster care system.
